CALL TO ORDER , LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT & INTRODUCTIONS

Chair Graham to call the meeting to order.

The RDCO acknowledges our presence on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded tm̓xʷúlaʔxʷ (land) of the syilx / Okanagan people who have resided here since time immemorial. We recognize, honour, and respect the syilx / Okanagan lands upon which we live, work, and play.

  THAT the Electoral Area West and North Westside Governance and Services Study Committee meeting minutes of July 20, 2022 be adopted.

• Recommended Motion:

  THAT the Electoral Area West and North Westside Governance and Services Study Committee receive for information the correspondence submitted by Jim and Anne Edgson be received for information.

Governance & Services Study Purpose

Review of North Westside Governance & Services Study: Committee Report - DRAFT

• Consultants to provide opening comments and review key sections of report with the Committee, in particular "Chapter 6: Options to Consider" and the accompanying Options Overview
• Committee Discussion

Committee Recommendation

• Consultants to set stage for Committee recommendation(s)
• Committee members to be invited to put forward, for group discussion, recommendations on next steps related to:
  • potential governance and/or service changes within the existing local government structure
  • potential governance and/or service changes to the existing local government structure

• Recommended Motion:

  GALLOWAY/JOHANSON

  THAT the Electoral Area West and North Westside Governance and Services Study Committee recommends that the Regional Board, in collaboration with the Province and the Regional District of North Okanagan, pursue a further study to explore in detail the services, governance, and financial implications of removing the north westside from Central Okanagan Electoral Area West and the Regional District of Central Okanagan's boundaries and creating a separate electoral area within the Regional District of North Okanagan.
